Becca Hayes
Becca H., a Northern California-based artist, uses oils to create thought-provoking paintings that explore human emotions and introspection. Her paintings often depict isolated figures, surrounded by dramatic lighting that emphasizes their inner conflicts and personal reflections. Becca's works are inspired by the masterful techniques of Rembrandt and her experience with dance, showcasing a keen eye for capturing movement and evoking emotion through art.
Entrapment
Oil on Canvas
Our inner battles, both emotion and mental, twist themselves around us until we are trapped by their choas. However, much like the dancer tangled in her ribbon loosely nailed to the floor, to an outside our problems often seem so easily solved. To the viewer it would seem an easy feat for her to raise, yet she strains with no sign release.
Arrogane
Oil on Canvas
The dancer is portrayed at the height of her career. The apple represents her skill, ability and talent. She is arrogant and is ignoring the fact that her days are limited and short lived. The present moment is merely a gift, not to be squandered.
Defeated
Oil on Canvas
The dancer is portrayed at the end of her career. She is desperately trying to hold on to her skill, ability and talent, which the apple represents. Her strenuous efforts are a lost cause, as she cannot hold onto what is slipping through her fingers.
Death of Cleopatra
Oil on Canvas
I wanted to capture the moment after her last breath. Preserved like a porcelain doll, it is as if her form is perfectly mummified. Although she is at rest there is no sleep, for there are still so many un left questions. The viewer is ambiguous as to the cause of her demise.

“Emotions must go somewhere. I put them in my work.”
